Brainnwave

Brainnwave provided Decision Intelligence through an AI and data-science led SaaS product and consultancy business.

With an evolving value proposition the business needed a brand redesign to present as a more modern, forward facing company.

Tagline

Initially I decided our brand tagline should be Data. Intelligence.

Management were keen to lose the first period, but I liked that it gave the tagline a second meaning, both of data and intelligence as separate areas of our offering and “data intelligence” combined.

Over time, the term “decision intelligence” was given more prominence in the data and business intelligence industry, and it was decided that we switch to a more straightforward tagline.

Photography

Data is a somewhat abstract concept and much of what Brainnwave was doing involved geo-spatial data and analysis.

As a result, I developed a photography and imagery concept that started to use more top-down photography.

This reflects the plan view of most map projections. It also encompases the fact that we were providing an “overview” or “top-down view” on clients’ data and business operations. It also nicely tied into our roots as a data marketplace (initially selling satellite imagery).

I decided that there should be varying levels of photography to represent what we’d often call “digging into the detail”.

The data team

With Brainnwave’s bread & butter being quite confidently, data, we had a strong data team of engineers and data scientists.

Working together every day they built a strong camaraderie and we’d often refer to them internally like they were a team of crack commandos.

As a bit of a side project I decided they needed a bit of branding, so I could make them some swag.

Taking the Brainnwave (and Mosaic) colours, I put together a military-esque marque for the Data Force.

Alex was exceptional. He showed creative vision and was always pushing us forward in evolving our product, our UX and corporate identity. He always delivered on time (in most cases ahead of time) and was a great member of the leadership team.

The team loved working with Alex and I would have no issue recommending him.
